Ovitraps

Ovitraps are small black deposits filled with water and an attractant, simulating a perfect environment for the breeding of Aedes, known as the dengue mosquito. Rectangular Eucatex straws are placed in it, a rough substrate to receive mosquito eggs. They are installed outside houses by surveillance agents to determine the number of mosquitoes in the region. Due to its characteristic of oviposition in jumps, the dengue mosquito lays small quantities of eggs in different locations, making the ovitrap a likely target.
